Boswellia Serrata:
Boswellia is best known for
producing a sticky, aromatic gum resin called frankincense or salai guggal.
Harvesters in India and Africa extract the resins by hand by making small cuts
in the bark. The gum seeps through the tree as a whitish resin, but it hardens
into crystalline forms after around two weeks of exposure to air. The workers
collect, clean and sort the crystals by color, size and fragrance. The crystals
are shipped to manufacturers all around.
