Green Coffee – Natural approach to Weight Loss

Mumbai January 15, 2010: Herald the coming of the New Decade with a cup of coffee and good health.
In the eras gone by, coffee beans were used as food. A ‘Hot Drink’ as we now understand coffee to be, originated in the Arabian Subcontinent. Years of Study and Research have all directed us towards Green Tea and its Therapeutic Usage. Similarly, the New World is awakening to the fascinating study of Green Coffee Extracts. In a parallel medicinal study of Green Tea, researches have now embarked upon discovering possibilities of extracting wholesome healthy benefits from green coffee beans.
Green coffee beans contain active polyphenols, Chlorogenic acids (CGA) and related compounds which make up for the main components of the phenolic fraction of green coffee beans, reaching levels up to 14 % (dry matter basis). The main groups of CGA found in green coffee beans include caffeoylquinic acids, dicaffeoylquinic acids, feruloylquinic acids, p-coumaroylquinic acids and mixed dieters of caffeic and ferulic acids with quinic acid, each group with at least three isomers.
The CGA is thought to boost metabolism by changing the way glucose is taken up by the body. It appears to work in the body by reducing the amount of sugar, otherwise known as glucose that is absorbed from the food you eat by almost half. This forces the body to use alternative sources of fuel for its energy requirements.
Animal Studies revealed that GCBE (Green Coffee Beans Extract) can suppress body weight gain and visceral fat accumulation in mice. Caffeine suppresses fat absorption, while CGA and its related compounds are found to be involved in the enhancement of fat metabolism in the liver.1
Fashion Industry today sports models that prefer to belong to a size zero generation. Living on a diet of espresso shots, it now seems possible to harness the slimming powers of coffee, in a healthier way.
